Yep, you read that right. Milky Miso Ramen / ミルキー味噌ラーメン. They explain that it is a combined miso soup and vichyssoise ramen with cheese and veggies - i.e. miso as in the typical Japanese soybean paste soup, the vichyssoise being supposedly
a thick soup made of pureed leeks, onions, potatoes, cream, and chicken stock, although here they just say it is a potato-based soup, and finally, potatoes, corn, and asparagus as "veggies." To me, it's a carbo feast -- potatoes, corn, ramen noodles, and partly the cheese and the milk. And the vichyssoise looked to me at first like a milk-based soup, but I didn't really know what it was. It was said to be invented only "recently" in America by a chef of French origin, and it is pronounced like
bishisowaz, which incidentally is how they'd pronounce it in Japanese (ビシソワーズ). I liked this ramen only because it's something new, and yet it is something that you might find only in Japan. My Japanese friend though, who tried it as well, said he liked it least compared with the regular miso and the spicy miso ramen varieties. Likewise, I won't probably try it again. Nevermind all that cheese! 420 yen from the cafeteria and it doesn't come with any meat. I had to supplement it with
karaage, to which my ramen probably said "You complete me."
